Setting a language switcher

If you create a language version, you should add a button to your store that will allow visitors to switch between languages.

You can set up the language switcher yourself by clicking on 'Layout' > Then in 'Theme settings'.


From the left side menu, select 'Header and general settings'.

Make sure the 'Show language switch option' is selected.

The first language version is the one you are currently logged on to.

Give the full address of the store http:// - Preferably with the URL ending in ''.

Then enter the URL of your language version.


The content you write on the field 'language label' will be visible to your customers.


Now you need to follow the same steps in the language version of your store, only this time enter the language version as first store and your main store as the second one.

Whether you want to translate a language version or your main store into another language - Follow these few simple steps.

How to translate a theme

Go to 'Layout' > Click on the three dots > Click on 'Translations'


Add a translation or edit the existing ones.shoplo-layout-adding-translation.png

Then change the active language. Select the language that should be active and save the changes.

How to translate the navigation

Go to 'Layout' > Click on 'Navigation' > You can edit each page


How to translate product descriptions and categories

You can also translate your product descriptions. Go to Products > Select a product > Click on 'Details'> Translate the product description


Translation of variants and parameters 

If you have products in different variants, such as different colours, sizes, then in the language version they should be translated.

Be sure not to delete or add new products - this will cause future bugs, for example when using Shared Stock to synchronize inventory.

Click on the product you want to translate > Go to 'Variants'> Click on 'Edit'

Then click on the three dots > and click on 'Manage Variants'.


Change the parameter name and click on 'Save changes'.


Once saved, make sure you have the correct amount of variants. If you do not need some of them, just select them and delete them.

Then on the same section (Product > Variants), at the top of the page click on 'Quick Edit'.


There you can translate all parameters and then click on 'Save changes'.

Adding a language version

The language version is based on your main store. It's like a copy of it. It's important to ensure that all products and the layout of your store is ready before you create a language version.

Go to 'Settings' > Regional > Language versions > Click on '+Language version'.


Select a country, currency and time zone. You can leave English as the checkout language. In this article, you will learn how to translate a theme into any language.


Click on 'Save changes'.

How to login to the language version?

 Go to Settings > Regional > Language Versions

You will see the language URL address. Copy it to your browser. Log in using the same email address and password as in your main store.



Introduction to language versions

The language version is a separate store that has its own address and a separate dashboard.

Depending on the subscription plan you have, you may have more than one language version.
